Book Review- Captivating Revised and Expanded

John and Stasi Eldredge revise and update this runaway bestseller.

What Wild at Heart did for men, Captivating is doing for women. Setting their hearts free. This groundbreaking book shows readers the glorious design of women before the fall, describes how the feminine heart can be restored, and casts a vision for the power, freedom, and beauty of a woman released to be all she was meant to be.

I first read Captivating about 5 years ago. I was a non christian and I went to a Captivating retreat in CO it changed my life. I am now a Christian and fully engaged in a relationship with my heavenly father.

This is an amazing book and truly everyone should read it. I had a hard time thinking it wasn't for me, i don't feel that way and I am not "screwed up enough" well those were all lies. This book and the Ransomed Heart team have changed my life.

I truly encourage everyone who can to get this book and read it. Be patient and take the time to truly read it and asorb the material.

  1. I just requested this book to accompany my *unread* copy of Captivating!
You made me want to read them! THANKYOU.
(a bunch of my friend told me to read it, but you told me WHY!)

  2. That's great. Just remember no matter what to keep reading. I know there were several times I could have easily put the book down and walked away but this book is a blessing and uncovers so much. Helps peel away the layers we have so easily packed on.

Let me know what you think.

  3. My Bible study did this book and I really had a difficult time with it. I will say that it did indeed help many women open up and grow but there was so much that I did not identify with.

The 3 core things "every woman" wants are not things that I have identified with, so being told that EVERY WOMAN wants those three things made me feel a bit defensive.

  4. Victoria,
I felt that same way when i first started. Our study group spent about 5 months going through it and took time on answering the questions, praying and just really asking what the walls and roadblocks were.

I have to say by the end I felt completely different. I am more open now and now insteand of saying it isn't for me I ask God - what the block is and why i feel the way I do towards things.

  5. I received *Wild at Heart* today and also purchased *Captivating*. I'm looking forward to reading this book when I'm done with Wild at Heart, which is amazing only halfway into the first chapter.

I don't dole out five stars very easily but I think that *Wild at Heart* is going to be one of those few!
